Valerie Harper is in a coma after being rushed to the hospital on Wednesday, a source close to the actress’ family told [Entertainment Tonight](https://www.etonline.com/news/169019valerieharperinacomasource/).
“It doesn’t look good,” another insider told the news outlet of her condition this morning.
The 79-year-old actress — who is battling terminal lung cancer — fell unconscious last evening before a performance of her musical Nice Work If You Can Get It in Maine. Despite reports that Valerie was released from the hospital earlier today, a source told ET she was actually taken via med-vac to a larger hospital for further treatment.

“Valerie Harper was taken to a local hospital as a precaution before her July 29 evening performance of Nice Work If You Can Get It, at the Ogunquit Playhouse, after reporting that she was not feeling well,” Executive Artistic Director Bradford T. Kenney said in a statement earlier today. “She is resting comfortably and will remain in the hospital for observation for the time being… The audiences and all of us here at the Playhouse are greatly enjoying our time with Valerie here in Ogunquit, and we are encouraged that she is feeling better.”

The former The Mary Tyler Moore Show star was given just three months to live when she was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis — a deadly condition where cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain — in January 2013. She also successfully battled lung cancer in 2009.

In May, the actress opened up about her diagnosis in an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, and assured she isn’t letting the illness keep her from living her life. “Every five minutes, every hour, every day, every year that you waste worrying about your cancer — you have forfeited time that you could have been alive having fun,” she said.
