‘Virgin River’ Showrunner Explains Season 6 Cliffhanger Ending and Teases Major Season 7 Plot
Season 6 of Virgin River was full of surprises, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats with a cliffhanger ending. Now, fans are seeking answers as to what happened to Charmaine.

Charmaine went missing toward the end of the finale episode, leading Jack to go look for her but he was surprised by what he saw.
Charmaine, played by Lauren Hammersley, was supposed to do Mel’s hair for her wedding to Jack, but did not show up and missed out on the ceremony. This prompted Jack to go to Charmaine’s house to see if she was alright. But when he arrived, he went into the twins’ room and seemed completely shocked by what he saw. The whole house was trashed, making it seem like someone broke in.
The audience did not get to see what exactly Jack was looking at. While fans wait for season 7 of the Netflix hit series, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith teased what happened to the twins and Charmaine.
“I would say the twins are safe. I would be concerned about Charmaine,” he told TV Insider on Thursday, December 19. “I feel like after season 5 with the miscarriage, I want to promise that no babies will be harmed in the production of this show in the future, but the circumstances are messy, and Charmaine’s at the center of it, which is where she tends to typically find herself, in the middle of a mess, right?”
Of course, many fans are wondering if Calvin, the father of Charmaine’s children, had something to do with what happened in the season 6 finale. Patrick revealed that Martin Henderson, who plays Jack, also doesn’t know how the story line will unfold.
“I saw one take where he did it perfectly, and then he broke and looked at the camera, and he was like, ‘Why didn’t they write what’s on the other side of this door?’” he explained of Martin’s acting in the scene. “For all that he had to play in his face in not having the specifics of what was happening on the other side of it, he was a pro.”
Luckily, season 7 is set to pick up right where season 6 left off, and will give fans more answers about what happened to Charmaine.
“Charmaine has found herself in the middle of a mess, which is a place where she tends to reside and it pulls our character into it,” he teased. “Not just Jack and Mel, but there are some other characters that find themselves pulled into it as well.”
In a Thursday interview with Us Weekly, Patrick hinted that there will be several other characters who are a big part of Charmaine’s mysterious story line.
“Charmaine has found herself in the middle of a mess, which is a place where she tends to reside and it pulls our character into it,” he told the outlet. “Not just Jack and Mel, but there are some other characters that find themselves pulled into it as well.”
