Alan Ritchson and Wife Catherine Ritchson Met in a Dance Class
Alan was 17 years old, and Catherine was 16 years old when they met in a Florida high school ballet class.
“I was in it for her and out as soon as we had it, we had it in the bag,” he joked on The Late Show about how the quit ballet as soon as they started dating.
Alan went on to explain how he was dually enrolled in college at the time while pursuing a degree in music theater. A prerequisite for the theater program was that he took dance classes, and it resulted in him meeting Catherine. “Anyway, we hit it off and long story short, now we have three kids,” he explained with a laugh.

According to Catherine, it wasn’t that simple, as they broke up and later reconnected.
“I’ll never forget seeing him for the first time in the [dance] studio. I turned to my friend Miriam, and I said, ‘Who is that?’ “ she recalled during a September 2023 appearance on “The Road to Wisdom” podcast. “He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting.”
Catherine claimed Alan broke up with her after their first summer together as he thought they were just having a “fling.”
“I’ve made him pay for it ever since,” she joked. “He still justifies it. He’s like, ‘You lived 30 minutes away, I couldn’t afford gas.’”
Catherine went on to attend the University of Florida starting in 2002. She and Alan reconnected in 2004 through a mutual friend while he was on a modeling shoot in Miami, Florida. The couple married on May 12, 2006.

Catherine Ritchson Is a Huge Supporter of Alan Ritchson’s Career
After attending the season 1 red carpet premiere for Amazon’s Reacher in February 2022, Catherine gushed about how her husband landed the role that made him a household name.

Becoming terrified, I asked ‘Are all the boys okay?’ He nodded yes. Then I gasped ‘You got Reacher?!!??’ And he nodded with a smile. And tears came and we jumped and screamed and jumped and screamed. Actually, I did all the jumping and screaming, but it was all directly in his ear, so it was a fully immersive experience for us both,” Cathrine continued.
