Angela Didn’t Know Who Alfonso Was When They Met

Even though he rose to fame as Carlton on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air years earlier, Angela wasn’t familiar with Alfonso when they first crossed paths. While recalling the time they met at a hotel in Beverly Hills in 2011, the Iowa native joked she “called him [her] stalker.”

“I didn’t know who he was at the time. He told me he was a director, which you were,” she said to her hubby during a joint conversation with Yahoo Lifestyle in 2018. “And I was very much in the ‘I don’t want to date anyone in entertainment.'” Good thing she changed her mind!

She’s a Dedicated Mom

In addition to being a loving stepmother, Angela is the mom of her three kids. The couple welcomed their first child together, Alfonso Jr., in 2013, followed by Anders in 2015 and Ava in 2019. Though she has her hands full, Angela said motherhood is her “favorite adventure” in life.

“I’ve always held a great deal of reverence and respect for mothers, but since becoming a mom myself, my level of respect has increased by leaps and bounds,” reads her website’s bio. “It is truly the most demanding, challenging yet rewarding job that I am lucky enough to experience.”

Angela is Multi-Talented

Angela pursued a career in entertainment after graduating from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. “Soon after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles where I was offered stunt work opportunities that utilized my background as a diver and gymnast,” per her website’s bio.

These days, Angela is a dedicated wife and mom, but she’s worked a plethora of different jobs over the years, including “a screenwriter’s assistant, diving coach and private jet flight attendant.”

As if it wasn’t obvious, the Dancing With the Stars alum couldn’t imagine his life without his lady by his side. “You are the true rock of our family,” Alfonso wrote in honor of Mother’s Day in May 2021. “Our kids are so lucky you’re their mom.”

The Secret to Their Marriage Was Revealed

In May 2024, Alfonso revealed the secret to his happy marriage with Angela in an interview with Closer.

“There’s no secret. It’s real simple. If you’re willing to hear what the other person is saying and you’re willing to compromise in a relationship, that relationship has a chance,” he said. “I always find it interesting that people can have lifelong friends but then get divorced three times. You’re willing to compromise with your friends, but some people get into a power struggle with relationships. The key is compromise. My wife and I understand each other. We discuss things. We communicate. That allows us the chance to continue to be happy.”
