Tom Cruise Left Hollywood for a More Private Life and We Can’t Blame Him

A-list actor Tom Cruise has been on the big screen for 40 years. He’s appeared in iconic movies including The Outsiders, Top Gun, Mission: Impossible, Jerry Maguire, The Mummy, and more. “I’ve wanted to make movies since I was four years old,” he told People in a new interview. “To be able to entertain an audience, that was my dream.”

He added, “I like to learn new things and push the skills I have to the next level. I don’t do anything halfway as a person.”

But unlike many celebrities these days, Tom is very private. So private that he even left Hollywood at one point. Back in 2016, he sold his $40 million Beverly Hills mansion and his other properties there. He later bought an apartment in Florida to be closer to the Church of Scientology headquarters — the controversial religion he’s famously a part of. “He’s very relaxed when he’s here,” a source shared.

Tom doesn’t like to disclose much about his life, however. For example, we rarely see the A-lister on social media (he just joined Instagram this year) except when it’s for one of his movies. “He’s a mysterious figure in many ways,” his Mission Impossible: Fallout co-star Simon Pegg said. “People speculate about him and decide the truth about him. He doesn’t really do anything. He steps back from all that.”

On top of that, his dating life and relationships with his three children are extremely vague. Tom was previously married to actress Nicole Kidman from 1990 until 2001 and the two adopted two children together, Isabella, 25, and Connor, 23. He was also married to Katie Holmes and they have a daughter, Suri, 12. “He loves all his children,” an insider revealed. “And each of them has a right to their own story.”

But enough about his personal life. We’re just glad Tom is back in the spotlight with Mission Impossible: Fallot and Top Gun: Maverick!
