Will Bobby Be in Season 3 of ‘Tracker’? Executive Producer Tells All After Character’s Season 2 Absences

For a large part of season 2 of Tracker, Eric Graise’s character, Bobby Exley, was missing from several episodes. His absence sparked fan concern online about whether or not the character would be coming back. When he finally made his return to the show later on in the season, many were hoping that it meant he was back for good. Executive producer Elwood Reid teased whether or not viewers can expect to see Bobby in the upcoming season 3 of the CBS show.

Why Was Bobby Missing From ‘Tracker’ Season 2?

From season 2, episode 10, to season 2, episode 15, Bobby did not appear on Tracker. Colter Shaw brought on Bobby’s cousin Randy to serve as a tech savant to aid him in his missing persons cases. Randy certainly brought a sense of humor to the show even when Colter found himself in sticky situations.

Randy and Colter had a conversation on the phone in one of the episodes about how Bobby had to take some time off from work due to family stuff. It was later revealed that he had to attend the funeral of his friend, who was like a brother to him. Bobby ended up returning to the show in season 2, episode 16, where viewers got to see him interact with Randy for the first time. It turned out, the cousins made quite an unstoppable tech team.

When addressing Bobby’s previous season 2 absences from the show, Elwood hinted toward Eric’s schedule playing a part.

“It’s one of those things where actor availability is always an issue. There have been shows where people don’t even notice [if a character is missing]” he said in a May 2025 interview with Us Weekly.

Can Viewers Expect Bobby to Be in Season 3 of ‘Tracker’?

After the explosive season 2 finale of Tracker aired in May 2025, Elwood dished on what’s to come in season 3, including whether or not fans will be seeing Bobby and Randy again.

“I think we will see both of them. Like I said, I just finished [my] first season so the writers haven’t been in the room,” he told TV Insider. “Part of I think the biggest piece of the puzzle is going to be figuring out the Reenie of it all, what Reenie’s world looks like, and figuring out how the team fits around that. What’s been interesting about this show is we’ve done shows that are really — like you saw, there was an episode with Randy this year that worked really well. Then there’s also episodes where we don’t see any of the teams, it’s just Colter all by himself. Those work really well too.”

Who Is the Most Interesting Character on ‘Tracker’?

“I don’t want the show to fall into a formula where it’s like every week we see the same team and they say the same things,” he continued. “I think what makes you want to come back to those other characters that are in Colter’s team, so to speak, is when we just don’t lean on them for sort of to move the plot along. So it’s a long answer to saying, I haven’t quite figured out the motor of the show yet, moving forward in season 3, but it’s one of the things we’re going to talk about when the writers get back in the room.”

Similarly, Elwood told Us Weekly that “one of the challenges in season 3 is going to be reconfiguring the team and figuring out what that team looks like.”
