New ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Photos Show 1 Character Viciously Biting Another as Tensions Rise
No characters are safe on Yellowjackets season 3. In new photos released ahead of the season premiere on Friday, February 14, several of the girls seem to be in more trouble than ever before. Warning: spoilers ahead!
In the pictures from the upcoming season obtained by Entertainment Tonight, it appears teenage Shauna is taking a bite out of Mari’s arm. It looks like Mari is screaming as Shauna pins her down on the ground in the middle of the forest.
The photo raises the question of whether or not this is real or something Shauna is imagining. Hallucinations have become more common throughout the seasons as the team is malnourished and losing hope that they will get out of the forest alive.
The younger version of Shauna’s character struggled with the heartbreaking stillbirth of her first child at the end of last season after dreaming that the baby survived. It was the most distressing episode for viewers, who were baffled by the fake out.
“You are with Shauna on that journey. You’re not ahead of her; you’re with her. You didn’t have any knowledge ahead of her, you’re right alongside her going through this,” director Liz Garbus told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2023. “Then there’s the moment where she blacks out and opens her eyes, and Misty hands her a baby. And that signal is the beginning of this other plane of reality that then is abruptly ended when she has her Rosemary’s Baby moment in that nightmare and wakes up. But of course, the reality of the baby not making it is harder to take than even that cannibalistic nightmare.”
Of course, season 2 showed the audience that the group will stop at nothing to survive and resorted to cannibalism when the quest for food was unsuccessful.

In another season 3 photo released ahead of the show’s premiere, adult Misty is sitting in a bed listening to music, seemingly glum. In the season 2 finale, adult Misty accidentally killed adult Natalie, a death that rocked fans and the entire cast.
Christina Ricci teased what’s to come for adult Misty and her boyfriend, Walter, after Natalie’s death when the show returns.
“She can’t grieve when we see her in the beginning. Walter is trying to push her to grieve and get through that process,” the actress told TV Insider in an interview published on Monday, February 10. “She goes to [Natalie’s] storage unit [and] because she doesn’t have a lot of healthy emotional intelligence, coping skills, or self-awareness, decides that instead of grieving, she’s going to keep Natalie alive in some way — dressing like Natalie [in her leather jacket] and [doing] what Natalie used to do, go to bars and drink and then … stuff happens. Misty misplaces her aggression for a bit of the season until she can find a focus.”
Christina, 45, also reflected on how difficult it’s been not having Juliette Lewis on set anymore after her character’s death.
“I really miss her. She’s wonderful, genuine, and fun,” she remarked. “We were all very bonded, like sisters. We fought; we were friends. We spent hours and hours together, miserable, cold in the middle of the night out shooting. That bonds people.”
