‘Yellowjackets’ Star Steven Krueger Engaged to Candice King: See the Sweet Announcement
Yellowjackets actor Steven Krueger popped the question to Candace King, and she said, “Yes.” The Vampire Diaries actress announced the engagement news in an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, May 14.
“I think 38 just might be my favorite year yet,” she wrote alongside a series of photos with Steven, 35. “A couple of weeks ago @stevenakrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry him. The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you Steven. Thank you for asking me to dance through life with you. And thank you to everyone for the kind birthday wishes x (Special shout out to @catherinepowell for snapping these sweet pics at our fave @marthas_nashville)”
The comments section flooded with love for the pair, who have been romantically linked since December 2023.
“Ohhhh congratulations Candice,” one person wrote, while another person said, “What a power coupleeee!!!! Congrats you guys!!!! May you be so so so happy together.”
“CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!” another person chimed in.
“Congratulations!!! So happy for you!” said another.

Candice was previously married to singer Joe King from 2014 to 2022. They welcomed two children together, daughters Florence and Josephine. She also became a stepmother to his two kids from a previous relationship.
Both Candice and Steven come from the Vampire Diaries universe. She starred as Caroline Forbes in the series from 2009 to 2017. He starred in the spinoff The Originals from 2013 to 2018. Candice also appeared in The Originals for five episodes in 2018.
While they’ve largely kept their relationship under wraps, Steven and Candice posed together for a PDA-packed photo shared on Instagram in December 2024.
“December, you sure kept me on my toes. From Mystic Falls to Paris to Florida… It’s been a beautiful adventure but I’m officially ready for that sleepy week between Christmas and New Years anyone else?” she captioned the picture kissing Steven.
Candice also previously shared a photo while spending time with Steven and her kids in June 2024 while she was filming season 1 of We Were Liars. That same year, they wore coordinating Halloween costumes, dressing up as Taylor Swift and Post Malone from the “Fortnight” music video. “Who uses typewriters anyway? #thetorturedboyfriendsdepartment,” Candice captioned the post, referencing the song with the tune playing in the background.
In February 2025, the couple attended the premiere of Yellowjackets season 3 in Los Angeles, marking their red carpet debut. They posed for photos together on the red carpet at the event, smiling for the cameras. He gushed about her in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying it was “so nice” to have her there with him and how they bonded about being part of supernatural shows.
